Students for Life Meeting

The first Students for Life meeting of the semester will be held on Tuesday, September 2nd at 8:00pm in Ritter Hall, room 320. All are welcome, especially new members. Contact us with any questions, or visit our website.

Students for Life is a fellowship committed to upholding the fundamental right to life on the campus of Saint Louis University. We follow the guidance of Catholic thought regarding the dignity of all human life from conception to natural death. The Jesuit Mission of Saint Louis University calls us to discern prayerful, intellectual, and active means of building a culture of life that rejects the institution of abortion.

 

SLU Eating Disorder Awareness Team Informational Meeting

SLU EAT is gearing up for the new school year! If you’re interested in helping us plan events, work as a peer educator, or just learn how you can help, we are having an informational meeting Tuesday September 2 at 8 in front of Au Bon Pain in the Busch Student Center. Everyone is welcome.

The SLU Eating Disorder Awareness Team is a student organization dedicated to bringing awareness about eating disorders and related issues to campus through advertising and special events. SLU EAT is specifically in charge of planning Eating Disorder Awareness Week and will be conducting trainings and U101 information sessions.

If you can’t make this information session but are still interested email us. Tuesday won’t be our regular meeting time so input on preferable meeting times is welcome.

Student Advocates

This position is part of an exciting new program at SLU centered around effecting change on our campus and supporting our fellow students during a critical time. Advocates will go step-by-step with a students involved in a possible conduct violation to ensure they have the tools necessary for their meetings with hearing officers and/or formal hearings. Advocates will also meet as a group with their advisor to reflect on cases in which they’ve assisted; to discuss accomplishments and setbacks; to assist in educational efforts; share observations about policy and practices within the Code of Conduct.

Who

  • Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, and (Possible Graduate/Professional Students)
  • Must be free from any serious disciplinary action.
  • Must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better.
  • Must be a current full-time student at Saint Louis University.
  • Must be able to maintain confidential information
  • Organizational and Time Management is a must
  • Reliable and Dependable
  • Excellent communication skills

Your application is due in the Office of Student Conduct, Busch Student Center, Suite 313 or via email by Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 4:00pm. Once you have submitted your application, you can expect to be contacted via email or phone to arrange for an interview.

International Scholarship Event


The Honors Program and sociology department will be hosting an informational session on a variety of prestigious international scholarships, such as the Rhodes, Fulbright, Marshall, and more.  The session is this Tuesday, September 2 at noon in Tegler Hall Rm 103.
