Your Weekend Weather

In the vein of new Billiken Traditions, we’re going to try something new here on SLUConnection. David Koeller, a freshman here at SLU, will be providing us with the weather report every Friday.

David does it all (in addition to the normal hectic schedule of a freshman) from gathering and analyzing the incoming weather data to producing and staring in the weather report.  I don’t know if this is true or not but someone told me his middle name is Doppler. :-)

David is a student in the department of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences and has is own weather related blog that can be found here.

(Editor’s Note: Sorry this is a bit late.  I’m in Phoenix on vacation.  Which, BTW is a lot warmer than STL right now!)

BSC has the Blues

Go outside!  As part of the Billiken Traditions this weekend, the BSC tower is cast in an awesome blue. Don’t forget to check out the Billiken signal illuminating the side of Greis as well!

Stay tuned for more updates as the weekend activities continue!

SLU Theatre Goes Greek

NEW!!!

Following the Sunday afternoon performance, there will be a “talk-back” panel discussion about the moral, ethical and legal issues addressed by this Greek classic. The panel will be moderated by Gary Wayne Barker, interim chair of the department of fine and performing arts. Following remarks by panel members, there will be a Q&A session to allow the audience to ask questions and discuss the play and the production.

Panel members include:

* Dawn McAndrews, director of “Antigone” and artistic director of the St. Louis Shakespeare Festival
* Elizabeth Foreman, assistant professor of philosophy at Saint Louis University
* Francis Nevins, J. D., Saint Louis University School of Law

Spread SLU Spirit through Billiken Traditions

Sam Howard SGA President wants you to join in SLU’s Billiken Traditions with its big kick-off this Saturday, November 22nd at the Men’s Basketball game against Boston College at Chaifetz.

Among some of the major events is a giant Billiken spotlight to be shone against the east side of Griesedieck Tower. Look out for the Billiken Signal on Friday, November 21st after dark along with the blue lights on the tower of the BSC to guide your way.

After the game on Saturday, head to Humphrey’s Bar and Grill for the unveiling of the SLU Billiken Traditions Mural.

The key to making this work is through you.  Here are some tips to help spread the word.

  • Personally encourage every one of your friends to have tickets for this Saturday’s game and that they plan to attend the Traditions Unveiling right afterwards.
  • Change your Facebook status to “Billikens vs. B.C. this Saturday at 1 PM — don’t miss this BILLIKEN TRADITION.  Good luck guys!”
  • Change your Facebook picture to the picture below.
  • Make announcements in your classes and meetings
  • Print off the (above) poster, and hang in in your room/window/somewhere people will see it but that doesn’t have to be approved.
  • Anything else crazy but legal you can think of that will get people stoked for this game and unveiling!
