Global Medical Brigades Now Accepting Applications

DSCN0580

SLU Global Medical Brigades (GMB) will be taking its third trip to Honduras in January 2010. All interested students and medical professionals should e-mail slu.gmb@gmail.com for more information.

We are part of a grass roots movement all over the country that provides health care and infrastructure solutions to the world’s poorest countries.  We are your opportunity to impact the world.

We recruit student volunteers and health professionals, collect donations for medicines and medical supplies, and transport everything down to Honduras.  There, we run and staff a mobile health clinic helping those living in rural Honduras with limited or no access to healthcare.  While down there, we also get a chance to learn about the Honduran culture and help improve socio-economic conditions by improving infrastructure, visiting local orphanages. This year we will be incorporating more public health elements to our brigade station to prevent disease, empower the people, and make our efforts more sustainable.

Applications for the trip will be emailed out on Sunday September 13th and all applications will be due on Friday September 25th. Students from all backgrounds and interests are welcome.

You don’t have to go on the trip to be a member of SLU Global Medical Brigades. E-mail slu.gmb@gmail.com to be added to the listserv and receive information about meetings and events.
