Make a Difference Day Made a Difference

More than 2,500 students, faculty, and staff took part in Make a Difference Day this Saturday, contributing tens thousands of service hours to nonprofits, church groups, schools, and charitable organizations.

Make a Difference Day sends students to dozens of service sites throughout St. Louis. This year students did everything from lay sod for Habitat for Humanity to applying a fresh coat of mint colored paint to an elementary school classroom (much better than the rose that had been there for ages).

Using figures provided by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, SLU’s make a difference day contributed about $250,000 worth of service to the St. Louis community.

To learn more about service and how to get involved, check out the Center for Service and Community Engagement’s website, or check out one of the many service organizations on campus, like APO or Campus Kitchens.
