Fast-a-Thon 2011

The Muslim Student Association is hosting their annual Fast-a-Thon on Tuesday, November 1st! A free dinner that will break the fast is being served in the BSC’s Wool Ballroom at 5:30PM. The MSA challenges you to take the pledge.

Fast-A-Thon is an annual event hosted by the MSA of SLU, in which non-Muslims are invited to experience what fasting is like for the Muslims during the month of Ramadan. In addition to experiencing a Muslim tradition, you will be helping East Africa famine victims, as 100% of the proceeds will be donated.

The Monster Dash 5K

I was walking through SLU late one night,
when my eyes beheld an eerie sight,
For there were students dressed in costumes galore,
They were running at me, and to my horror,
They ran the dash… they ran the Monster Dash.

Halloween is just around the corner, and to celebrate, the Student Health Advocates & Peer Educator Program (SHAPE) is hosting the Monster Dash 5K, an after-dark non-alcoholic event. It’s on Saturday, October 29 at Hermann Stadium. Registration starts at 10PM, pre-race events start at 10:30PM, and the race starts at 11PM.

Students can sign up as an individual or on teams of 5-7 people. It’s $10 for individuals and $5 for team members. There will be prizes given for Top Team, Fastest Male Runner, Fastest Female Runner, and Best Costume. You don’t even have to be a runner to win Best Costume! Plus, everyone who registers gets a free T-shirt!

For more info, email SHAPE at shape.slu@gmail.com.
