Poetry Reading by Tom Pickard

The Jean Drahmann Writer-in-Residence at SLU for fall 2013 is Tom Pickard, and he will be giving an exclusive poetry reading tomorrow afternoon at 4 in the Sinquefield Stateroom (DuBourg 409).

On Pickard: Born in Newcastle, England in 1946, Pickard left school at fourteen, and in 1964 co-organized the legendary Morden Tower poetry readings. In addition to his poetry, he has written documentary prose, film scripts, and librettos, collaborating with musicians from the composer John Harle to Paul McCartney. Allen Ginsberg comments, “I am an old admirer of his poetry and believe he’s one of the livest truest poets of Great Britain.”

This event is sponsored by the English Department. For more information, see here or e-mail Devin Johnston at johnstod@slu.edu.
