SLU Athletics to Host 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament in the Chaifetz Arena

It used to be that kids would gather in a driveway and play horse. Maybe you moved on and traded the asphalt of your youth for the gymnasiums of your high school years. Now is your chance to take it to the next level.

Saint Louis University Athletics is having a 3 on 3 basketball tournament this Saturday, February 6 in the Chaifetz Arena. All SLU students are invited to join in this co-ed tournament. Teams may consist of either 3 or 4 players, and the tournament cost is $10 per person. Registration should be completed in advance.

A grand prize of $150 cash and bragging rights are in store for the winning teams. You’ll get to meet with NFL player Laurence Maroney. Winning players will be recognized during the men’s basketball game vs. Dayton on February 13 and receive a Superbowl prize pack and trophies. The stakes are that high.

Second prize will be a gift card to Papa John’s and a t-shirt.

Each participant will receive a complimentary ticket to the men’s basketball game versus Dayton on February 13. Registration is first come first serve.

To register, download and complete these registration and waiver forms and submit them with entrance fees to the Billiken Ticket Office located in the Chaifetz Arena.

SLU Presents the Social Change and Innovation Conference

On campus here at SLU, we’re surrounded by people who have innovative ideas about making St. Louis better. If you’re one of those people, there’s good news: you may be able to win up to $2,000 to get your idea off the ground.

The Saint Louis University Social Change and Innovation Conference, which takes place January 30 from 10 am -5 pm, seeks to bridge the gap between ideas and implementing them. Participants will gain a broader understanding of social issues, seek to find solutions to social problems, and participate in social change by collaborating with others for a common purpose.

After the conference, students will have the opportunity to apply for a bright idea grant, and have the chance to earn up to $2,000 to help implement their plan and make it a reality.

For more information and to register for the Social Change and Innovation Conference, check out the conference’s website.

A Day in The Life of Katie

At the beginning of the semester, we asked you in our poll what our next video project should be. The ballots were in; the tribe had spoken: “A Day in the Life” of a SLU student.

One of the SLU bloggers, Katie, was nice enough to let us stalk follow her through her day (for which we are eternally grateful). Katie, a sophomore in the Doisy College of Health Sciences, let us go to her classes, follow her to lunch, and hang out with her during her evening activities.

What follows is a condensed day in her life.
