From all of us, to all of you Merry Christmas

We’re going on vacation!

It’s that time again! Everyone’s home for Christmas break so that means that we’re a little short on stories right now (and by a little short, I mean none!) So SLU Connection is going on vacation just like you.

After December 22 we won’t be posting any new stories until January 12. So until then, feel free to share your wisdom with a new student.

Have a happy and safe Christmas break, and we’ll see you all in the new year!

Share your wisdom-Help a new student today!

Christmas is all about sharing and helping others. So with that in mind we want to help out all of the new students who will be joining the SLU Community next semester.

Transferring to a new school mid semester is always hard so we’re going to try to make the adjustment a little easier for them by asking you to give them one piece of advice that you think every student should know before coming here.

This could be something that you’ve  invented or discovered since you’ve been here or just something that you wish someone had told you before you came. No piece of advice is too big or too small.

Help a freshman out today. Just leave your advice in the comments section below!

In the spirit of things and being a transfer myself, I’ll start.

My advice for any new freshmen or transfers (other than reading SLU Connection every day) would be to join any club that even remotely resembles something that you’re interested in. It’s a great way to meet people who share your interests. Don’t worry about not being good enough, everyone has to start somewhere. When you find something you like, give it your best. Nothing upsets people more than undedicated club members. If you don’t like it, don’t be afraid to quit and find something else. Just be upfront about it. Your fellow members will appreciate the honesty!

Tim Brooks answers your questions

Continuing our online town hall series, Ask an Influential, we introduce Tim Brooks, Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Information Technology Services (ITS).

Just like we did  with Sam Howard SGA President (Click here to see Sam’s Answers), we gave you, the students, a chance to ask the burning questions you have about the technology of SLU. We sent your questions to Mr. Brooks and now he has the answers!

Read on to  see what he said.
