On Tuesday, November 3, a new student organization on campus called Political Roundtable will be having a discussion on healthcare reform. Here is more information on the group:

This is an open-forum group called Political Roundtable that is new on campus. Our mission is to foster healthy, anti-ad hominum discussion on controversial topics in the world. It is completely student run and led – you pick the meeting dates and topics. The E-Board will do the research for you – all you need is an opinion. Our first debate is on healthcare reform in the BSC. We will have some legal health speakers who will be talking about the bill and packets of info prepared for everyone who attends. Hope you can come!

Pizza Making Party Hosted by the Honors Wellness Initiative

“That’s-a nice pizza pie!”

Or so said many Italian immigrants as they settled in St. Louis and the surrounding area during the mid- to late nineteenth century.

In an unrelated note, The Honors’ Program wellness initiative is throwing a pizza party open to all students. They will provide the dough, cheese, the platonic concept of an archetypical pizza, and sauce. You bring your favorite toppings.

In order for the correct amount of ingredients to be purchased, please RSVP for this event to Whitney Kline (wkline@slu.edu) by Friday, October 30.

Help Choose the 2011 First-Year Summer Reading Book

Any individual affiliated with the university has the opportunity to submit a recommendation for the 2011 first-year summer reading book. The recommendations will be reviewed by a panel made up of faculty, staff, and students.

The book must be rather short (less than 300 pages), relevant to incoming first-year students, potentially cross-curricular, and interesting to students as a summer reading book.

Recommendations are due to Susan Finale (sfanale@slu.edu) by November 11, 2009. Please provide your personal information, the book information including a short synopsis, and the significance of the book choice as it relates to the first-year summer reading program.
