Be proud. Be confident. Be safe!

We know college years are a difficult time for everyone. For most students, it’s the first time you’re on your own and making important decisions. Add stress from classes and roommates and jobs… everything can get very confusing. College is also often a time to discover who you really are inside and break out of the box that home life or high school may have put you in. At Saint Louis University, we want you to know that you should never be afraid of who you really are.

The Safe Zone program strives to erase prejudice, while providing a support system for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community. Through education, advocacy and awareness, the program contributes to a campus climate that is safe and accepting for all members of the University community.

A Safe Zone ally is defined as an individual who supports and honors diversity, acts accordingly to challenge acts of prejudice against LGBTQ people and is willing to explore and understand these forms of bias at individual and institutional levels.  We invite all University members to consider becoming Safe Zone allies.

Safe Zone members are not experts on the LGBTQ community.  They are members of the Saint Louis University community who display a commitment to creating a more inclusive environment in which LGBTQ people will be treated with dignity and respect.

iLEAD, Leading with others

The iLEAD: Servant Leadership Experience empowers students throughout their college career to aspire to affect both immediate and long-term change in order to transform their community and the lives of the marginalized in our society. We do this through the intentional formation of students into becoming servant leaders and agents of local and global social change.

The iLEAD: Servant Leadership Experience embodies the University mission by engaging undergraduate students at Saint Louis University in the transformation of society and serving with and for their community through their development as agents of local and global social change.

A progressively challenging Servant Leadership experience, students engage in the iLEAD: Servant Leadership Experience throughout their college years within three phases.

Learn more about how to get involved with servant leadership, and what it means, at the information session on September 18 at 5:30pm in the BSC St Louis Room
