Hoops For Haiti – Students Battle Faculty Saturday March 26

This Saturday, March 26 at 3PM, a fierce battle will be waged in the West Pine Gym.

Hoops for Haiti is a student-versus-faculty basketball game sponsored by the Doerr Center for Social Justice that will raise money for two non-profit organizations based in Haiti: Randolph World Ministries, Inc. (Founded by Dr. Tim Randolph, a researcher and professor here at SLU) and FOTCOH (Friends Of The Children Of Haiti). Tickets can be bought in advance for $5 and at the event for $7.

Being a freshmen, I wasn’t here last year, but I’m told that the faculty dominated the students like a bunch of battle axes. Hopefully the students can get revenge this year!

Last Lecture Series Call For Nominations

Each semester SLU hosts the Last Lecture series.  The Last Lecture series provides an informal format for selected faculty to share reflections from their life’s journey and to speak to students as if it was their last lecture ever.
There are no pre-determined boundaries for the program – the faculty member will be speaking from the premise, “If you knew this was your last lecture you would ever give, what would you share with students?”
So, who would you like to nominate for the Last Lecture Series?
Nominations from students will be accepted through February 18, 2011.  The faculty member selected will be asked to speak during April 2011.
Nominations can be submitted via the Last Lecture website.
