SLU’s University News Wins “Best Overall Newspaper” Award

The University News was recently awarded the title of “Best Overall Newspaper” at this year’s Missouri College Media Association conference. The conference is held every year to honor the state’s college newspapers. The paper also won 20 other awards, which are listed below. Congrats, UNews!

Parade of Nations and Billiken World Festival

Tomorrow  is your chance to see cultural artifacts and have some great ethnic food from all different countries. Yes, I am talking about the Billiken World Festival.Kick off the Festival by watching as flags from all around the world parade to the Quad in the Parade of Nations.

Then you can wander over to the Simon Recreation Center to experience all sorts of exciting food, dance, art, and fun. The parade begins at 11:45 a.m. and the World Festival starts at noon tomorrow, Friday March 30th. You will purchase tokens a in a $0.50 and $1.00 increments by visiting the Info Booth before you begin your cultural journey.

Again the World Festival has been moved from the Quad to Simon Rec. due to rain!

Leadership and Service Award Nominations

There are some amazing people out there. You know, the ones who give their time and lives for the community. People like these need to be rewarded, that is why the Student Involvement Center is giving you this chance to nominate student, staff, or faculty members for a Leadership and Service Award.

To nominate someone go to this site here. You have to hurry because the deadline for nominations are this Friday, March 9th at 5:00p.m.
