Karaoke Night

Just a small town girl, livin’ in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin’ anywhere

I can hear it now: one person on stage with a mic, while everyone in the audience is singing just as loud. Ah, nothing beats karaoke!

Billikens After Dark is offering this chance to show off everyone’s beautiful singing voices Saturday night (October 15th). They will be singing away in the Billiken Club from 9:00p.m. until midnight.

If you don’t want to sing you can show up to hear several of SLU’s A Cappella groups give awesome performances. So get your singing pants on and get ready to sing this weekend!

The Billiken Club: Vivian Girls with Widowspeak

Rising New York band Vivian Girls will play a live show at The Billiken Club September 14th to promote their newest album, Share the Joy, as part of The Billiken Club’s fall concert series.  Their music has been described as a “transcendent mix of garage-thrash, girl-group warmth, and infectious pop-hookmanship,” and they have been featured in Rolling Stone, Spin, and given a ‘best new music’ rating on pitchfork.com.  The show is FREE, all ages and open to the public, with priority given to SLU students.

If you’d like to get involved with The Billiken Club, stop by the show to talk to a staff member! Or, email thebillikenclub@gmail.com.

Disappears with .e @ The Billiken Club

Fuzzy-guitar rockers Disappears will play a free show tomorrow night, May 5, at The Billiken Club. The band .e will open for them. Doors open at 8.

This is the last Billiken Club show of the semester, so if you haven’t been taking advantage of the free live music on campus, this is your last chance (until next semester at least (unless you’re graduating (then it really is your last chance))).

Spring Fever 2011! Comedian Andy Woodhull!

Celebrate the first day back from break with comedian Andy Woodhull on Tuesday, April 26! The show takes place at 8PM in the Billiken Club.

Woodhull is a Chicago-based comedian who has won the St. Louis leg of the Laugh Across America Contest, the Carnival Comedy Challenge in Chicago, and the Butterfinger Comedy Showdown. He has performed at the Las Vegas Comedy Festival, along with numerous other shows in the U.S. and Montreal. He’s also a SLU alumnus, so I’m hoping for some SLU-specific standup jokes. (Gries kids, they walk like this. But Reinert kids, they walk like this. Am I right? Am I right?)

The show is part of SAB’s Spring Fever 2011 and is free!
