Samuel Cupples House Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month With a Candle Party on October 20

Samuel Cupples House will be hosting a pink candle party featuring Gold Canyon Candles in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The fundraiser will take place on Wednesday, October 20 from 5 PM to 7:30 PM at the Cupples House. Mary Marshall explains more:

Admission is $5.00 and benefits Bridging the Gap Emergency Breast Cancer Fund, administered by the Saint Louis University Cancer Center. The program offers funding for those women and their families who are enduring financial hardships encountered during the breast cancer treatment process. The program offers assistance for rent or mortgage payments; utilities; prescription medications; and home or car repairs. Bridging the Gap is funded by the St. Louis Affiliate of the Susan G. “A Pouring on the Patio” Takes Place at Samuel Cupples House During Parents’ Weekend

Looking for a place to treat your parents on parents’ weekend?

Come out to A Pouring on the Patio at the Historic Samuel Cupples House from 4 to 7:30 PM on Saturday, September 25. The event will feature wine from Duran Imports and music provided by the Silk Pajamas. Their jazz is as smooth as their pajamas.

If you’re in the mood to explore Mr Cupples’ house, the building will be open for self-guided tours. For more information on the historical site located just west of the library, check out cupples.slu.edu.

 

Samuel Cupples House Hosts “Wine & Dine Wednesday” on August 25

It is well-known folklore that Samuel Cupples often enjoyed a glass of wine on his patio as he tried to think of ways to make his house look more awesome. Now you can follow in his footsteps on a relaxing Wednesday evening. Mary Marshall with the Samuel Cupples House has more:

The Wine & Dine Wednesday series continues at the Historic Samuel Cupples House on Wednesday, August 25, beginning at 5 p.m.

Sit back, relax, and put your Wednesday evening in “Cruz” control as Chef René Cruz of Harry’s Restaurant prepares an entrée that is sure to satisfy the craving for a relaxing Wednesday evening. Wine and light appetizers will also be provided.

Doors will open at 5 PM and Food demonstration will being at 5:45 Pm. The cost of the event is $7 and includes a generous sampling of Chef Cruz’s entrée du jour.

Samuel Cupples Invites SLU Community to Raise a Glass to the Class of 2010

It is well-known folklore that Samuel Cupples often enjoyed a glass of wine on his patio as he tried to think of ways to make his house look more awesome. Now you can follow in his footsteps by raising a glass to the class of 2010. Mary Marshall with the Samuel Cupples House has more:

The patio of the Historic Samuel Cupples House will be the place to be to raise a glass in toast to the Class of 2010.

Join us on Thursday, May 13, for a wine tasting and the mellow sounds of the jazz trio, The Silk Pajamas. The “toast” begins at 4 p.m. and continues until 7:30. The event is open to the entire University community.

Wine will be available for purchase by the bottle and by the glass. There is no admission fee. Must be 21-years-of-age to consume or purchase alcohol.

Holiday Rooms in Bloom December 3 at the Samuel Cupples House

The Samuel Cupples House is hosting its regular Rooms in Bloom with a holiday theme this December:

The event begins with the lighting of the Cupples House Christmas tree on December 3 at 5:30 p.m. On-air radio personality, Laurie Mac of K-HITS 96 will light the tree and serve as the official hostess of the preview reception of Holiday Rooms in Bloom that will immediately follow the tree lighting. Carolers from the SLU music program will perform songs of the season.

Join the festivities as members of the St. Louis Florists Network will “deck the halls,” of St. Louis’ only Richardsonian mansion with floral works of art that feature the crimsons, evergreens and winter whites of the holiday season. The elegantly furnished rooms of the historic mansion will be resplendent with the creations of the area’s premiere florists.

No admission charge. In the spirit of giving, all visitors are encouraged to donate either a new or gently used clothing item to benefit the St. Francis Xavier (College Church) parish help center. Make the historic Samuel Cupples House your home for the holidays.
