Discounted Tickets for Shrek the Musical Available in the Student Life Office in the BSC

The SLU Grand Center Committee, Billikens After Dark, and SAB want to put you in the seats for Shrek the Musical at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. Craig Stoeklin has more:

SLU Grand Center Commitee, Billikens After Dark, and Student Activities Board would like to invite you to attend SHREK The Musical at the Fabulous Fox Theater, St. Louis on September 23 at 8:00 PM.

All tickets are $20.00 and sold in the Student Involvement Center (BSC 319) Monday through Friday 9am-4:30pm.

Tickets include one free popcorn and a meet and greet with the cast after the show.

SLU’s String Orchestra Seeks String Playing Members of the SLU Community

This Thursday, August 26, SLU’s string orchestra No Strings Attached will be holding a reading session preview night at Xavier Hall Theatre.

The event starts at 7 PM and will provide sheet music and refreshments. Members of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra will be on hand to join the night reading session.

No Strings Attached is open to all undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and staff at SLU. All violinists, violists, cellists, and bassists that have played for at least three years are welcome and no audition is required. They meet every Thursday from 7 – 9:30 PM.

The Grand Center Committee and Billikens After Dark Present the Billiken Music Festival Every Wednesday in April

The Grand Center Committee and Billikens After Dark sent us some information about the Billiken Music Festival:

Bring your blanket and join the Grand Center Committee and Billikens After Dark for the Billiken Music Festival every Wednesday evening in April in the BSC Amphitheater starting at 7:30 PM.

Each evening enjoy live music from well-known St. Louis bands at 8PM. There will be free popcorn, Fitz’s Rootbeer, and Ski (A Southern Illinois style of Mountain Dew fused with a citrus flavor).

Be sure to save room, Vito’s will be selling pizzas at a VERY resonable price (and bring cash)!

Venues from Grand Center will be present to offer special student deals and let you know what shows are coming up before the end of the year. These deals are worth checking out!

Be sure you check out the outdoor live music starting this Wednesday.

 

SLU String Orchestra Performs at Powell Symphony Hall Wednesday at 7 PM

Tomorrow, March 24, at 7 PM the SLU String Orchestra will be performing at Powell Symphony Hall as part of our On Stage at Powell Series. The concert is free of charge, with no tickets or reservations required. John Lamb of the Department of Fine and Performing Arts describes the String Orchestra in more detail:

The String Orchestra was formed last year by Marc C. Thayer, Vice President for Education and Community Partnerships, Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, and an adjunct faculty member at Saint Louis University in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts – Music. The Saint Louis String Orchestra is open to any faculty, physician, staff or students from SLU who has played violin, viola, cello or bass for at least three years. No audition is required. The Orchestra rehearses at 7 pm every Thursday in the Refectory in DuBourg Hall. The Saint Louis University String Orchestra is a collaborative project between SLU’s music program, the School of Medicine, Saint Louis University Cancer Center and the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra.

The Student Involvement Center Sells Discounted Tickets to “Lift Every Voice:Black History Month Celebration” at Powell Hall

The IN UNISON Choir will be performing their Lift Every Voice: Black History Month Concert at Powell Symphony Hall on February 19 at 7:30 pm.

The IN UNISON choir will be performing with Innervision Dance Theatre, vocalists Jermaine Smith and Marlissa Hudson, and IN UNISON Chorus director, Robert Ray. The show features selections by Scott Joplin, George Gershwin, and traditional spirituals

Tickets are $15.00 each and available in Student Involvement Center in the BSC from 9 am-4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Payment may only be made in cash or check.
