Student Health Offers Vaccines for H1N1 and Seasonal Flu

This time of year is the worst time to come down with the flu, whether it be the seasonal or the swine.

Student Health and Counseling would like to remind students that there are vaccines available for both of these maladies. For H1N1, the Student Health Center offers both mist and injectable form. For the seasonal flu, the vaccine is offered as injectable.

Head over to Student Health to get yourself vaccinate and end the semester on a good note!

H1N1 Vaccine from Student Health and Counseling

Student Health and Counseling Services has received a limited supply of the H1N1 vaccine in a nasal mist form.

To get vaccinated, visit the student health center from 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. The center expects to receive more vaccine once this supply is gone.

Please note, the H1N1 nasal flu mist will be given only to students who do not have asthma or any other chronic medical conditions, are not pregnant and are under the age of 49.

There is no cost to receive the vaccine.

Dean of Students Scott Smith gives SGA an update on the suspected cases of H1N1.

 

H1N1 Influenza Update

The University has recently confirmed that there are five suspected cases of novel H1N1 virus within the university.

The students are being treated and will not return to classes until fever-free for 24 hours without the aid of medication.

The university is carefully monitoring the situation. They have established a site that will updated with information regarding novel H1N1 at SLU. Access it here.
