This Thursday at 6pm, Jenny Heil from LeaderWorx will be hosting an info session. LeaderWorx offers opportunities to deepen your faith while living the values of service and justice. Room, board, and a stipend are awarded to applicants accepted into the program.

Navigating Re-Entry as a Global Billiken & a Global Citizen

The Office of International Services is hosting a Navigating Re-Entry as a Global Billiken & Global Citizen session this Thursday afternoon.
Studying abroad is a life changing experience, and SLU wants to make sure that students who return from being abroad get acclimated correctly to being back home. The session will help students embrace their new identities as global citizens and readjust to life back in the United States.
Navigating Re-Entry as a Global Billiken & a Global Citizen will take place at 4 p.m. in Des Peres Hall 108. Please RSVP to goabroad@slu.edu if you plan on going.

First-Year Experience Leadership Positions Information Sessions

Do you remember your first days on campus as a SLU student? You were probably excited, nervous, overwhelmed, confused, eager…
As an upper class student who has survived your first semester, year, or years at SLU, YOU can make a difference for incoming students. The First-Year Experience leaders hold elite positions that help students through their college transition by serving as resources and role models.
Whether you’re interested in serving as a SLU 101 Leader, Oriflamme Leader, U101 Peer Instructor, Commuter Assistant, Transfer Mentor, or Learning Community Mentor – all provide the opportunity to make a positive impact for incoming students. In addition to serving incoming students and their families, these positions are a great leadership development opportunity for you, and are, of course, fun!
The Student Involvement Center and Student Success Center are now accepting applications for the above positions.
There are several upcoming information series about the First-Year Experience Leadership positions. If you’re interested, check one out! Applications for students studying abroad in the Spring 2013 semester are due November 20th, 2012.  All other students should follow the January 18th, 2013 deadline.  Students can apply online at the Student Involvement Center’s SLUGroups page.
Attend an information session or apply online at SLUGroups. All information sessions will be held in the Fall 2012 semester – dates include November 7th at 5:30pm in MDD 1016, November 15th, December 3rd and December 4th. Applications for students studying abroad in the Spring 2013 semester are due November 20th, 2012.  All other students should follow the January 18th, 2013 deadline.  Students can apply online at the Student Involvement Center’s SLUGroups page.

Resident Advisor Position Information Sessions

Are you interested in becoming a Resident Advisor (RA) and joining the Department of Housing & Residence Life for Spring 2013 or the 2013-2014 academic year? Well, applications are now available!

Resident Advisor’s help provide support and direction for students living in residence halls and serve as a mentor to those living around them. They truly can make a difference in other student’s lives. Housing & Residence Life professional staff will hold several informational sessions throughout the fall semester to provide interested applicants with more information about the department, the position, and the application process:

Applicants are not required to attend the informational sessions. The sessions are strongly encouraged for individuals not familiar with the position and process.

Attn: Junior Pre-Professional Health and Pre-Med Students

Attention all Junior Pre-Professional Health and Pre-Medical Students:
Any student who is interested in applying to Medical, Veterinary, Optometry, Dental or Podiatry School and plans to enter professional school in 2014, should attend an informational session regarding the Committee on Evaluations Process.
Please attend one of the three sessions:
The Informational Sessions will be held:
Friday, September 14 – 2:00-3:00 pm – BSC 253 A& D
Tuesday, September 18 – 5:00pm-6:00 pm – BSC 256
Wednesday, September 19 – 11:00am-12:00pm – BSC 256
Students must have a 3.0 cumulative and 3.0 math/science GPA to be eligible to participate in the Committee on Evaluations process, and must have completed biology, chemistry, and organic chemistry, and will be scheduled to take physics this year.
Important information about utilizing the Committee on Evaluations will be presented at these informational sessions. Students will have the opportunity to sign up for a Pre-Health Committee Evaluation at these sessions.
(NOTE: Sophomore Medical Scholars will have a separate meeting on Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 6:00-7:30 pm in DuBourg (Refrectory Hall) Room 157)
