If you want to be prepared for job searches or a future careers go to the Career fair Wednesday, September 28, at the Wool Ballrooms at the BSC, put on by Career Services. At the fair you can look for job or internship opportunities or talk to recruiter about what skills and qualities they are looking for in students.

Between 12:00p.m. and 4:00p.m. there will be nearly 100 organizations attending, a few of which are: Edward Jones, Xavier University, Monsanto, Stephen Ministries, FBI, Marquette University, Ameren, and many more organizations from a wide variety of industries and graduate schools. Techs troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that a staff or faculty member may have. These issues include troubleshooting printers, replacing hardware components on workstations, editing the registry and everything in between. Student workers are also trained in areas which they may not be knowledgeable in order to perform their duties.

The hours are flexible around your academic schedule and technicians start at $9/hr.

The Student Media Production Team (SMPT) is looking to hire an additional member to work on video production projects through the summer. Candidates must be a current SLU student who enjoys all aspects of video production. Over the course of the summer you’ll be involved in filming and editing various video projects for the university community.

Looking for a way to get involved with campus life and build professional experience? The Department of Academic Support is looking for new tutors and supplemental instruction (SI) leaders for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Tutors are still needed for both the Frost and Medical Center campuses and for a variety of subjects, including Accounting, Chemistry, Economics, Math (all levels), Philosophy, Foreign Languages (especially German and French) and more! SI leaders are needed for Chemistry, History, and Psychology!

To be eligible, you need to have earned at least a 3.0 in the subject area you wish to tutor and at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Position offers flexible, on-campus hours at the rate of $10 per hour.

On Wednesday, February 10, Career Services and the Public Services Initiative at SLU will present Clare Ribando Seelke to speak on what it’s like to work for the federal government. Here’s the event information from Career Services:

Public Service Initiative @ SLU presents: Clare Ribando Seelke is a Specialist in Latin American Affairs at the Congressional Research Service, the research arm of the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. She came to CRS as a Presidential Management Fellow (PMF) and completed rotations with the State Department in the Dominican Republic and with the U.S. Agency for International Development in Washington D.C. as part of her PMF fellowship.

She covers Mexico, Bolivia, and Central America, as well as a number of cross-cutting issues such as the Merida Initiative, Gangs, and Trafficking in Persons.

Ms. Seelke holds a Master of Public Affairs and Master of Arts in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Notre Dame. To learn more about the Public Service Initiative at SLU, please visit our website.

Chaifetz Arena has a summer Event Internship available starting May 2009. The Event Intern will gain valuable experience in the Sports and Entertainment industry by working in the Events Management Department.

Interns play an integral role in everyday processes of arena operations and the successful execution of arena events. The intern must be organized, motivated, and able to work well under pressure situations.
Open to sophomore, junior, senior, and graduate college students. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Must have ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple tasks.
Full-Time. Flexible hours. Must be available nights and weekends.

Responsibilities include:

• Assist in supervising event staff
