Speech from the United Nations Secretary-General on the World Food Crisis

Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon visited Saint Louis University last month to discuss global food security. While here he addressed the world food crisis and the plight of those he calls the “bottom billion”

“Some 1 billion of the world’s people — I call them the ‘bottom billion’ — live on less than $1 a day,” he said. “Two billion live on less than $2 a day. That means that one third of world?s people live on less than $2 a day. Many, if not most of them, are children. Hunger and under-nutrition are their overwhelming daily reality.”

SLU TV was there to capture this historic event. You can view the full hour-long presentation above.
