National Society of Collegiate Scholars

Looking to apply for a scholarship? Amanda Chamberland, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars chapter advisor, provided some info that may be of interest:

The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) is an honor society for high-achieving first- and second-year college students at SLU and more than 270 other colleges across the US.  Through NSCS you can apply for $250,000 in scholarships, take on a leadership role with our campus chapter, and take part in on-campus service and social events. If you have a GPA of 3.4 or higher, you are eligible to join NSCS.

Upperclassmen Scholarship Application

If you are an upperclassman who has demonstrated exceptional involvement and service at SLU then you should apply to get a scholarship from the Student Government Association (SGA).

Each year the SGA has the opportunity to award five $1,000 scholarships to undergraduate upperclassmen . To apply you need to have at least a 3.0 cumulative G. P. A., have completed at least 60 credit hours, completed at least 2 semesters at SLU, and if you are not receiving a full tuition scholarship.

The application is online here. Once you have included a resume, two current letters of recommendation, and a short essay, the completed applications must be submitted to Cheryl Kaufman in the Student Involvement Center in BSC Suite 319 by 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 1.

Diamond in the Rough Student Entrepreneurship Competition Launched

This fall, Saint Louis University’s John Cook School of Business and its Entrepreneurship program are launching the Diamond in the Rough Student Entrepreneur Competition. The winning student entrepreneur, who best embodies the key idea of SLU’s Entrepreneurship program, “Do good. Do well,” will be awarded $5,000.

“Diamond in the Rough represents an outstanding way for SLU to show its support for our students who are already running their own firms,” said Jerome Katz, Ph.D., Coleman Foundation professor of entrepreneurship.

NSCS Info Session

All you avid SLU Connection readers might recall the post about the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) that was on here a while ago. Well, if you are interested in learning more, you might want to check out the NSCS informational session going on in BSC room 253D on Thursday, April 28 at 6PM. There you can get your questions answered and fill out a self-nomination form.
