Tutoring and Writing Services Available During Finals!

The following is a PSA from your friendly neighborhood tutoring and writing services:

Thank you for utilizing the Student Success Center tutoring and writing services throughout the fall semester.

Limited tutoring is still available on Wednesday 12/14 and Thursday 12/15 in accounting, biology, math, economics (Econ 190 and 312 only), foreign languages (Spanish, French, and Italian), communication science disorders, human physiology, physics, and more.

Writing appointments are still available between Wednesday 12/14 and Tuesday 12/20.
To create an appointment, visit SLU Appointements through the mySLU portal. Tutoring or writing services will not be available throughout the holiday break but will reopen in January 2012 with the spring semester.

Fall Career and Graduate School Fair

If you want to be prepared for job searches or a future careers go to the Career fair Wednesday, September 28, at the Wool Ballrooms at the BSC, put on by Career Services. At the fair you can look for job or internship opportunities or talk to recruiter about what skills and qualities they are looking for in students.

Between 12:00p.m. and 4:00p.m. there will be nearly 100 organizations attending, a few of which are: Edward Jones, Xavier University, Monsanto, Stephen Ministries, FBI, Marquette University, Ameren, and many more organizations from a wide variety of industries and graduate schools. Specialists will be available on Mon., 26 and Tues. 27 from 8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m. in the Student Success Center, BSC, Suite 331 to answer questions about attending and working a fair and to critique resumes.

So put on those business casual clothes and get ready to meet up with opportunity.

Tutors and Supplemental Instructors Needed for Next Academic Year

Looking for a way to get involved with campus life and build professional experience? The Department of Academic Support is looking for new tutors and supplemental instruction (SI) leaders for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Tutors are still needed for both the Frost and Medical Center campuses and for a variety of subjects, including Accounting, Chemistry, Economics, Math (all levels), Philosophy, Foreign Languages (especially German and French) and more! SI leaders are needed for Chemistry, History, and Psychology!

To be eligible, you need to have earned at least a 3.0 in the subject area you wish to tutor and at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Position offers flexible, on-campus hours at the rate of $10 per hour.

The Student Success Centers have started preparing for finals, and students won’t be too far behind. Hopefully. To gear up for finals, the Student Success Center has invited students to share their study tips on Facebook:

Become a facebook fan of the SLU Student Success Center and post your best study tip. You will be automatically entered into a raffle for a $20 Barnes and Noble gift card. The winner will be announced Friday, April 30. Check out the Student Success Center website (slu.edu/success) for additional tips and resources that may help as you prepare for your exams or plan for your summer internships and jobs.
